Shipping & Delivery

Last updated:

This page explains how Gift Willow gets a blanket, pillow, ornament or keepsake from the moment you place your order to the moment it reaches the door — often the door of a parent or grandparent who lives far from you. It covers how long we take to make your order, how long delivery takes, where we ship, what shipping costs (nothing), and what to do if a parcel is slow, missing or damaged. It applies to every order placed on giftwillow.shop. If something here is unclear, email [email protected]; we reply within 24 hours on business days.

Delivery in a few lines

  • Making your order: 1–3 business days. Every item is made to order, many of them with the names you typed.
  • Time in transit: 7–14 business days to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Cost: free shipping on every order to those four countries, with no minimum spend and no code to enter.
  • Ships from: the USA.
  • Something wrong on the way? Email us with your order number and we will help you sort it out.

1. How long we take to make your order

Gift Willow does not keep shelves of finished blankets waiting in boxes. Each item is produced after you order it, which is how we can put “Nana” and nine grandchildren’s names across one fleece throw, or “The Harpers, est. 2009” on a pillow cover. Production and packing take 1–3 business days from the moment your order is confirmed.

Business days are Monday to Friday, not counting public holidays. An order placed late on a Friday evening begins its 1–3 business days on Monday. During the weeks before Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the winter holidays, more families order at the same time, so please give yourself the full range when you plan.

The 24 hours after you order are also your window to change or cancel (see section 6). We wait until that window has passed before we treat names and options as final, so a quick email about a spelling still reaches us in time.

2. Delivery times and cost by country

Once your order is made and packed, it travels for 7–14 business days. The full journey from checkout to doorstep is therefore usually between 8 and 17 business days. These are estimates, not guaranteed dates: weather, carrier volume and customs checks can all add time.

Shipping is free on every order to these countries. There is no order minimum, no coupon and no hidden handling fee: a single 21.99 ornament ships free, and so does a blanket-and-pillow set. The shipping line at checkout shows $0.00 before you pay.

3. Where we ship, and where we don’t

We ship to addresses in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Orders ship from the USA. If you enter an address in any other country, checkout will not offer a shipping method and the order cannot be placed. We would rather tell you that plainly than accept an order we cannot deliver. If we ever add more countries, this page and the checkout will be updated at the same time, so what you read here always matches what checkout offers.

Many of our customers live in one country and send a gift to family in another — a daughter in Texas sending a blanket to her mother in Winnipeg, or grandparents in Ohio sending ornaments to grandchildren in Auckland. That works perfectly: simply enter the recipient’s address as the shipping address and your own details as the billing address.

4. Sending a gift straight to someone else

Most Gift Willow orders are gifts, and most of them go straight to the person receiving them. A few things help the parcel arrive smoothly:

  • Use the recipient’s full name as it appears on their mailbox or building directory, especially for apartment buildings and retirement communities where reception staff sort parcels.
  • Add the unit, apartment or room number in the second address line. In assisted-living residences, the room number often decides whether a parcel reaches the right person the same day.
  • Use your own email address at checkout, so order emails come to you and not to the person you are surprising.
  • Delivery notes: if you would like us to know anything about the delivery, email us after you order and we will tell you whether we can help.

5. Following your parcel

You receive an order confirmation email as soon as your order is placed. You can look up the status of your order at any time on our Order Tracking page with your order number and the email address used at checkout. If the carrier provides tracking details for your parcel, we send them to you by email; if you have not heard from us within the time you expect, write to us and we will check the order for you.

A small tip: order emails sometimes land in a promotions or spam folder. Search your inbox for “Gift Willow” before you worry.

6. Checking and changing the address

Please read the shipping address once more before you pay — street, unit number, city, state or province, and ZIP or postal code. Delivery problems are most often caused by a missing apartment number or a postcode with two digits swapped.

If you notice a mistake, email us within 24 hours of placing your order. Within that window we can correct the address, change options or cancel at no cost (details on Cancel or Change an Order). After the window, your order may already be in production; write to us anyway and we will tell you honestly what is still possible.

7. Orders with several items

When you order a blanket, two pillows and an ornament together, the items are often made in different places in the production line and may travel in more than one parcel. You never pay extra for that. If part of your order arrives and the rest has not appeared after the delivery estimate, let us know and we will look into it.

8. If a parcel is late or seems lost

Delivery estimates are honest guesses, and once in a while a parcel takes longer — especially across borders or during the holiday rush. If your order has not arrived after the 1–3 business days of production plus 14 business days in transit, please email us with your order number and the shipping address. We will check the order, contact the carrier where we can, and tell you what we find. If a parcel turns out to be lost, we will work out a solution with you, such as a replacement or a refund.

If the order shows as delivered but you cannot find it, look around the entrance, ask neighbours and building staff, and check with your local post office. Then write to us and we will help from there.

9. If something arrives damaged

Blankets and pillows travel well; glass ornaments, mugs and suncatchers need a bit more luck. If anything arrives damaged, keep the packaging, take clear photos of the item, the box and the shipping label, and email them to [email protected] with your order number. We will reply within 24 hours on business days and put it right with you. Photos you send us are deleted 30 days after delivery of the replacement or the end of the case. For returns in general, see our Returns & Exchanges Policy.

10. Customs and import charges

Our prices and free shipping cover the journey to your door. Parcels sent to Canada, Australia and New Zealand cross a border, and whether any import duties, taxes or customs fees apply depends on the rules of the destination country and the value of the parcel. If you are sending a larger gift internationally and are unsure, email us before you order and we will share what we know.

11. Planning for a special date

Because every item is made after you order it, the safest plan is to count backwards from the day you want the gift in someone’s hands:

  1. Allow up to 3 business days for us to make it.
  2. Allow up to 14 business days for delivery.
  3. Add a few extra days of breathing room before holidays, when carriers are busiest.

In practice, ordering about four weeks before a birthday, anniversary or holiday gives the most peace of mind. If the date is closer than that, a finished design (no names to type) saves you the time of collecting and checking spellings, but the production and delivery times stay the same. Not sure whether your date is realistic? Email us the date and the destination country before you order, and we will give you an honest answer rather than an optimistic one.

12. Special addresses

Some addresses need a little extra care. If you want to ship to a P.O. box, an APO/FPO/DPO military address, a hospital ward or a holiday rental, please email us before you order. We will check whether we can deliver there and tell you before you pay, rather than after.

For care homes and retirement communities, we suggest adding the resident’s room number and, if the building uses one, the name of the front desk or activities coordinator in the second address line. Staff can then hand the parcel over the same day it arrives.

13. A few worked examples

  • A Mother’s Day blanket to Florida, ordered on a Wednesday: production finishes by the following Monday at the latest, and the parcel then travels 7–14 business days. Ordering at least four weeks ahead leaves room for holidays and weather.
  • Two pillow covers to Grandma in Winnipeg: the covers ship free to Canada on the same timeline as a US order. Because the parcel crosses a border, the arrival day may sit toward the end of the 7–14 business day range.
  • Ornaments for three grandchildren in three cities: each address needs its own order, because one order ships to one address. Each order ships free.
  • A spelling mistake noticed the next morning: if it is still within 24 hours of the order, email us and we update the name before the item is made.

14. Questions about delivery

Write to [email protected] with your order number, or use our Submit a Ticket page. We reply within 24 hours on business days. You may also find your answer in the Help Center or the FAQs, and refunds are explained on our Refund Policy page.
