About Us
Last updated:
Gift Willow is a small online shop for personalised family gifts: soft fleece blankets, square and lumbar pillows, ornaments in ceramic, wood, glass and acrylic, and a handful of keepsakes for the kitchen and the mantel. Most of what we sell is made for parents and grandparents, and most of it carries names — the grandchildren’s, the family’s, or simply the one the children use, like Nana, Mimi or Pop. This page explains what we make, how we think about it, and what you can expect from us when you order.
Why a willow
A willow is a tree that leans. Its long branches bend down toward the ground and toward whoever is sitting underneath, and in summer it makes a soft, shaded room where a family can gather. That is the feeling we wanted for our gifts: something that leans toward the people you love and gives them a soft place to sit.
You will see the willow everywhere in the shop. It curves around the “gw” in our logo, it shades the porch swing on our Grandpa’s Porch blanket, it frames the names on our family name pillow, and it hangs from every ornament collection. Our colours come from the same tree — a grey-green sage like willow leaves in the morning, a linen background like an old tablecloth, and a dusty pink for the small flowers that grow near the water.
What we make
We keep the range deliberately small, so that every item can be chosen with care and described honestly.

Blankets come first
A blanket is the gift that stays in the room. It hangs over the arm of the sofa, travels to the porch, and ends up around whoever falls asleep during the family film. Our fleece blankets come in three sizes — 30 × 40 in for a baby or a lap, 50 × 60 in as a sofa throw, 60 × 80 in for a bed or a recliner — and either carry a finished design, such as our Love Grows Here willow tree, or a layout where you type the names yourself. For people who prefer something very simple, our plush throw has a single name embroidered in one corner.
Pillows for the corners of a home
Pillows mark places: Mom’s corner of the couch, Dad’s chair, Grandma’s nest. Ours come in four square sizes and a long lumbar shape, as a cover only (if the house already has good inserts) or with an insert. A few designs come in three colours — linen, willow sage and dusty pink — so they can match the room they are going to.
Ornaments that come out every year
Some families keep one ornament for every year: a first holiday as grandparents, a new home, a new baby. Our ornaments come in four materials, each with its own character: round ceramic discs, wooden shapes with a visible grain, clear glass with a bevelled edge, and acrylic hearts that let the light through. One of the wooden ones has a slot for a folded note or bill — a small tradition many grandparents keep.
Keepsakes for every day
A mug for Grandpa’s long morning coffee, a stemless glass for Mom’s quiet hour, a flameless LED candle with the family name for the mantel, a serving platter for Sunday cookies, a suncatcher for the kitchen window. These are the gifts that live on counters and shelves rather than sofas.
Finished designs and personalised ones
Not every gift needs a name. Most of our range are finished designs with a set message — “Love grows here”, “Family gathers here”, “Dad’s reading chair” — that you can order in a minute, without collecting anybody’s spelling. A smaller group is personalised: you type the names or the family name into fields on the product page, and a live preview shows your words over the product picture as you type.
We built personalisation to be simple and honest. Every field shows its character limit. Optional fields that cost extra show the price next to the label, and the extra is only charged if you fill them in — nothing is pre-ticked. We make each item exactly as you type it, and we do not send a proof before production, so the product page asks you to check spelling, and you have 24 hours after ordering to correct anything.
What we do not do
Some things are left out on purpose, and we think it is fair to say so:
- No characters, teams or brands. We do not print cartoon characters, sports teams, celebrities or other companies’ logos, and we do not accept personalisation text that uses them. Our designs are our own and are meant for every family.
- No photo uploads. Our personalised items use typed text only.
- No invented urgency. You will not see countdown timers, low-stock warnings or counters of other shoppers on our site. Every item is made to order, so there is no stock to run out of.
- No made-up reviews or badges. When we have real customer reviews, they will come from verified buyers.
How an order comes together
- You choose and personalise. Pick the product, the size and options, and type any names. The preview shows the layout.
- You have 24 hours to change your mind. Spelling fixes, a different size, a new address or a cancellation are free within that window.
- We make it. Production takes 1–3 business days. Each item is made for your order; nothing is pulled from a pile of identical stock.
- It travels to you — or to them. Orders ship from the USA and take 7–14 business days to arrive in the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Shipping is free, with no minimum.
What “made to order” means for you
Because nothing is waiting on a shelf, every Gift Willow item is made after you order it. That has three practical consequences. First, you can choose any size and option shown, and it is never “sold out”. Second, you need to allow 1–3 business days for production before the 7–14 business days of delivery, so it pays to order early for a birthday or holiday. Third, names are made exactly as typed, which is why the product page, the cart and the confirmation email all show your text — three chances to catch a typo before the 24-hour change window closes.

A few pieces, and the thinking behind them
The Grandkids’ Names blanket
This blanket sits at the centre of the shop. A long willow branch runs across the top, the name the children use sits in large letters underneath, and the grandchildren’s names follow in a soft line. It answers a simple need: a grandparent with many grandchildren rarely has one object that holds all of them together. See the Grandkids’ Names blanket.
Nana’s Hugs
Families live further apart than they used to. “Nana’s hugs, for when I can’t be there” was written for grandchildren in another state and for grandmothers who see them mostly on a screen. It is a finished design, so it can be ordered the same evening the idea comes.
The Family Name pillow
A surname and a year inside a willow wreath. It is a wedding gift, an anniversary gift and a first-home gift all at once, and it stays useful long after the occasion has passed.
The money holder ornament
Many of us remember a grandparent slipping a folded bill into a birthday card. The wooden money holder ornament turns that habit into something that hangs on the tree and can be filled again next year.
The Grandma & Grandpa mug pair
Two mugs, two small willows that lean toward each other when the mugs stand side by side. A gift for the people who have shared a kitchen table for decades.
Looking after your Gift Willow pieces
Each product page lists the care details we can confirm for that item. Our fleece blankets are machine washable; pillow covers zip off and can be washed inside out, while inserts are spot cleaned; ceramic ornaments are wiped with a damp or dry cloth; our platter is hand-wash only and not for the microwave or dishwasher. When a page gives no care detail for something, ask us before washing it — we would rather answer a quick email than see a gift damaged.
Who our gifts are for
Most of our customers are grown children shopping for their parents, and grandchildren — or their parents — shopping for grandparents. Many orders are shared: three siblings agreeing on one blanket with every grandchild’s name, or a couple sending matching mugs to both sets of parents. Plenty of orders go the other way too, from grandparents to a new baby or to a grandchild moving away for college. Our collections are organised the same way, so you can start from the person: Gifts for Mom & Grandma, Gifts for Dad & Grandpa and For the Whole Family.
How we write and design
We try to write the way a thoughtful friend would talk to you about a gift: plainly, without exaggeration, and with the numbers you need. Product pages list the sizes and the details we can confirm for each item. Where something depends on your choice — the size, the fill, the number of names — the page says so. Our designs follow the same idea: quiet colours, simple lines and words that a parent will not mind seeing every day for years.
