Payment Methods

Last updated:

This page explains how paying for a Gift Willow order works: which currency we use, where you see the payment options, when you are charged, how your payment details are protected, what to do if a payment does not go through, and how refunds and store credit come back to you. We keep it deliberately simple. The payment options available for your order are always the ones shown at checkout, and we never ask for payment details by email, phone or message.

Payments in brief

  • Currency: all prices are in US dollars (USD).
  • Payment options: the options available to you are listed at checkout, before you confirm your order.
  • Card details: handled by the payment provider, never stored by Gift Willow.
  • When you pay: at the moment you place your order.
  • Shipping: free to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so the total at checkout is the price of your items and any optional add-ons.
  • Refunds: sent within 7 days of receiving your return, to your original payment method or as store credit that never expires.

1. How to see your payment options

Add your gift to the cart, go to checkout and enter your contact and delivery details. The payment section at the bottom of the checkout page lists every payment option available for your order, with the provider’s own instructions. Only the options shown there can be used. If no option suits you, please email [email protected] before ordering and tell us what you would like to use; we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

We do not show payment logos elsewhere on the site. We prefer to show options only where they actually work: in the checkout itself.

2. Currency and prices

Every price on giftwillow.shop is in US dollars. That includes the price of each size and option and any personalisation add-on, such as the optional extra line on our Grandkids’ Names blanket. If you pay with a card or account in Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollars, your bank or payment provider converts the amount and may charge its own conversion fee; that fee is set by them, not by us.

The total in your cart is built from three parts you can see before paying:

  • the price of each product in the size and options you chose;
  • any optional personalisation add-on you filled in (the add-on is charged only when you use that field);
  • shipping, which is free to the four countries we ship to.

3. Example totals

To make the totals concrete, here is how a few typical orders add up at today’s prices. The product pages always show the current price for the size and options you pick.

Example Gift Willow order totals in US dollars
OrderItemsAdd-onsShippingTotal
Grandkids’ Names blanket, 50 × 60 in$64.99NoneFree$64.99
Same blanket with the optional extra line$64.99$4.00Free$68.99
Grandma’s Nest pillow, 18 × 18 in, cover with insert$41.99NoneFree$41.99
First Christmas as Grandparents ornament$21.99NoneFree$21.99
Grandpa’s Morning Coffee mug, 15 oz$23.99NoneFree$23.99

Optional add-ons are always labelled with their price next to the field on the product page, and they are only charged when you fill that field in. Leave it empty and the price does not change. Nothing is ever pre-ticked or added for you.

4. Checkout, step by step

  1. Choose the size and options on the product page and fill in any personalisation fields.
  2. Click Add to cart and open the cart. Your personalisation text appears under the product name — read it once more.
  3. Go to checkout and enter your email, billing address and, if the gift goes to someone else, their shipping address.
  4. Check that the shipping line shows free shipping for your country.
  5. Choose one of the payment options listed and follow its instructions.
  6. Place the order. Your confirmation email arrives within minutes; keep it as your receipt.

5. When you are charged

You are charged when you place your order and the payment is approved. Your order confirmation email follows straight away. Because every item is made to order, payment at checkout is what starts your gift on its way once the 24-hour change window has passed.

If you change your order within 24 hours and the new total is higher, we explain the difference and how it will be paid before anything changes. If it is lower, we refund the difference to your original payment method.

6. How your payment is protected

  • giftwillow.shop runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection on every page, including the checkout.
  • Payment details are entered into, or handled by, the payment provider you choose at checkout. Gift Willow never sees or stores your full card number or your account password with that provider.
  • We only receive the information needed to confirm your order: that the payment was approved, the amount and a reference.
  • We will never email, text or call to ask for your card number, security code or a password. If you receive such a request claiming to be from us, do not reply; forward it to [email protected].

7. If your payment does not go through

A declined payment is frustrating, especially when you are trying to catch a date. The most common reasons are simple:

Common reasons for a declined payment and what to try
ReasonWhat to try
Billing address does not match the address your bank has on fileEnter the billing address exactly as it appears on your statement; the shipping address can be different
Card security check or one-time code not completedComplete the check your bank shows, or try again when you can receive the code
International purchase blocked by your bankAsk your bank to allow a purchase in US dollars, then try again
Card expired or limit reachedUse another payment option shown at checkout
Technical interruptionWait a few minutes and try once more; check your email for a confirmation first so you do not order twice

If a payment is declined, no order is placed and nothing is made. If you see a pending amount on your statement after a failed attempt, it is usually an authorisation that your bank releases on its own. If it does not disappear, email us and we will check.

8. Order checks

To protect customers from fraud, we may occasionally ask a question about an order before we start production, for example when the billing and shipping details look unusual. We will email you. If we cannot confirm an order, we cancel it and refund the full amount.

9. Taxes and import charges

The total shown at checkout is what you pay to Gift Willow; no sales tax line is added at checkout. For parcels delivered to Canada, Australia or New Zealand, whether import duties, taxes or fees apply depends on the rules of the destination country and the value of the parcel. See Shipping & Delivery for more.

10. Store credit

When you return an item, you can choose to receive Gift Willow store credit instead of a refund to your payment method. Store credit never expires, can be used on any product, and is confirmed to you by email with instructions for using it at checkout. It cannot be exchanged for cash later, so choose a refund if you might prefer the money.

11. Refunds

Refunds go back to the payment method you used for the order. We send them within 7 days of receiving your return. After we send a refund, your bank or payment provider decides how quickly it shows on your statement. If the amount was converted from another currency, the refunded amount in your currency may differ slightly because exchange rates change. Full details are on our Refund Policy page.

12. Paying for someone else’s gift

You can pay for an order that ships to a parent, grandparent or friend. Enter your own billing details and their delivery address. Order emails come to you, so the surprise is safe. If several family members are sharing the cost, one person places the order and pays; the family can settle between themselves. Any refund goes back to the person who paid.

13. A safe-payment checklist

  • Check that the address bar shows giftwillow.shop and a padlock before entering any details.
  • Pay only through the checkout page, never by bank transfer to an account sent in an email.
  • Keep your order confirmation email; it is your receipt.
  • Review your statement after ordering and contact us first if anything looks wrong — we usually resolve questions faster than a formal dispute.

14. Receipts, invoices and larger orders

Your order confirmation email is your receipt and lists every item, option and add-on with its price. If you need a receipt addressed to a business — for example when an employer is buying gifts for staff who became grandparents this year, or a family association is ordering ornaments for a reunion — email us with the order number and the details you need, and we will tell you what we can provide. For larger orders of the same item with many different names, write to us before you order so we can suggest the simplest way to enter them.

15. Short answers to payment questions

Can I pay in instalments or later?

Only if such an option appears in the payment section at checkout. If it is not listed there, it is not available for your order.

Can I pay by cheque, bank transfer or cash?

No. Orders are paid through the options shown at checkout only. Please never send money to a bank account mentioned in an email, even if it looks like it comes from us.

Is it safe to pay on my phone?

Yes, the checkout is the same encrypted page on a phone, tablet or computer. Check that the address shows giftwillow.shop before you start.

Why am I charged before the item is made?

Every item is made for you after you order, often with names that make it unique. Payment at checkout confirms the order; you still have 24 hours to change or cancel it at no cost.

Will I be charged for the optional extra line if I leave it empty?

No. Optional add-ons are charged only when you fill in that field. The cart shows the price of each line before you pay.

Is the price on the product page the price I pay?

Yes. The price for the size and options you choose, plus any optional add-on you fill in, is what you pay. Shipping is free to the four countries we ship to.
